EP Validation & Unitary Patent Translation
Translation Support for European Post-Grant Requirements
Following grant of a European patent, applicants may need to satisfy translation requirements to support national validations and/or Unitary Patent requests. Requirements vary depending on the jurisdictions selected and the post-grant strategy being pursued.
Many law firms and corporate IP teams choose to obtain translations from Insperanto independently of the filing process to gain greater control and visibility while reducing translation expenses and overall post-grant costs. Because translation requirements differ significantly across Europe, early planning can help applicants evaluate validation strategies, understand translation obligations, and manage post-grant costs more effectively.
For Unitary Patent requests, we frequently recommend Spanish translations where appropriate, as they are often more cost-effective than other available language options. In some cases, previously prepared Spanish translations from earlier filing activities may also be adapted and leveraged, helping further reduce translation costs and turnaround times.
Translations can be delivered directly to the client and/or designated foreign associate, reducing administrative coordination and helping streamline the filing process.
EP Grant & Validation Timeline
Integrated Translation & Filing Support
Insperanto also offers EP Validation and Unitary Patent filing services. Many clients choose to combine translation and filing instructions, allowing us to coordinate the entire post-grant process through a single workflow.
Instructions may be provided at any stage, from preparation of Rule 71(3) claims translations through final EP Validation and Unitary Patent deadlines following grant. Our team monitors all relevant deadlines, manages required formalities, and ensures timely filing without the need for additional client instructions. This streamlined approach reduces administrative burden, improves efficiency, and can help lower overall post-grant costs by consolidating translation and filing activities through a single provider.
